The International Ibsen Scholarships were initiated in 2007 by the Norwegian government. In total, scholarship funds amount to 1,000,000 NOK (approx. 125.000 Euro/150.000 US Dollars) in 2009, and will be awarded to Ibsen-related projects worldwide.

Norwegian Government Scholarships

The Norwegian Government, through the International Scholarship Section (IS) of the Research Council of Norway, offers each academic year a pool of scholarships for advanced students and young researchers. The government scholarships are designed to promote contact and mobility between Norwegian and foreign students and researchers and institutions of higher learning and research. The scholarships are open to all areas of academic studies and research, including applied and performing arts. The scholarships are intended to finance a temporary stay of up to one academic year, and are not intended for completing an education/degree in Norway. Erasmus Mundus

Erasmus Mundus Masters Courses are high-quality study programmes at masters level offered by a consortium of at least
three European higher education institutions. They last between one and two years and lead to the award of a recognised
double, joint or multiple degree. Students have to study in at least two institutions. Erasmus Mundus scholarships are

Quota Scheme, Norway

The Quota Scheme is Norway’s and NTNU’s largest loan and scholarship scheme for financing
students from eligible developing countries, and countries in Central and Eastern Europe/
Central Asia, when it comes to student numbers. This category applies to applicants who are
either students, temporary or permanently employed at collaboration institutions in
eligible developing countries or countries in Central and Eastern Europe/ Central Asia
where the respective university/ college in Norway has signed collaboration agreements,

Norad’s Programme for Master Studies (NOMA), Norway

NOMA is a programme for providing financial support to develop and run Master Degree
Programmes in the South through collaboration between local and Norwegian Higher
Education Institutions. The programme is financed by the Norwegian Agency for Development
Cooperation (Norad) and managed by SIU. NOMA has a budget of NOK 343 million.

Thematic priorities:
Based on current Norwegian priorities and identified needs of the cooperating countries
in the South, the following eligible academic fields have been elected for the current
programme period: Education, Environment, economic development and trade,Gender,Health
HIV/AIDS, Oil and energy, Good governance, democratic development, human rights and
